Ripe Plantains

Ripe plantains are best enjoyed when fried or baked:

  1. Peel: Use a knife to slice off the ends, then cut a shallow line down the length of the peel and remove it.

  2. Slice: Slice the plantain diagonally into $1/4$ to $1/2$-inch thick ovals.

  3. Fry (Most Common): Heat cooking oil (like Palm Oil) in a skillet. Fry the slices in batches until they are golden brown and caramelized on both sides (about 3–5 minutes per side).

  4. Serve: Serve hot as a sweet side dish alongside rice, beans, or savory dishes like Jollof Rice.
